Explorer Scouts

A group of three young Explorer Scouts who will be exploring South Korea from April 7th to April 15th were given a flag by Councillor Billy Buchanan at the East Dunbartonshire Council chamber.

The three Scouts met the former Provost of Falkirk at a coffee morning. They were raising funds to help them compete for a spot in the World Scout Jamboree in 2019.

Emma Harvey, from Bonnybridge, will join more than 40,000 Scouts from over 150 countries across the world at the World Jamboree which is held every four years.

A total of 4000 Scouts are set to participate in the UK team.

Greggs will bring drive-thru to Basingstoke.

With a reach of millions, Explorers are expected to raise £3950 for each attendee and the UK will contribute to a fund that helps young people from less affluent countries.

Cllr Sloan Buchanan presented the officers with a Scottish and South Korean flag to show his support for their efforts.

He said: “I used to be on the Cub Scouts and Girl Guides, my wife was heavily involved in the Brownies.

These organizations do a great job.”

It’s an amazing opportunity for these little ones to be underwater and learn all they can in the process.
